📐 Project Measurement & Wastage Guide

To calculate how much flooring your project requires, simply measure the total length and width of your room to determine the overall square metres (m²). Here at Aluxo, in line with standard UK flooring industry guidelines, we strongly recommend adding a wastage allowance to your final order. This ensures you have enough coverage for necessary cutting, trimming, and perimeter fitting, while leaving a few spare planks for any future requirements.

• Standard / Straight Lay Installation: Please add an extra 5–10% to your total area to cover general cuts and layout margins.
• Herringbone / Intricate Parquet Patterns: Due to the precise, diagonal nature of the design and additional cutting required along room perimeters, please add an extra 15–20% to your total area.

🔧 Essential Installation Highlights

At Aluxo, we want to ensure your premium Fortis Floors™ LVT looks flawless and performs beautifully for decades. A successful installation relies on meticulous preparation. To safeguard your flooring investment and maintain your 15 Year Guarantee, please ensure your professional installer adheres to the following core procedures:

• Acclimatisation: Prior to fitting, LVT planks must acclimatise inside the destination room for a minimum of 24–48 hours. Unpack the tiles and lay them completely flat on a level surface, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and walls (Maintain a stable room temperature between 18–24°C and a relative humidity of 40–65%).
• Subfloor Preparation: The underlying substrate must be perfectly firm, flat, clean, and dry. Ensure concrete screeds are thoroughly sanded and vacuumed, with a maximum deviation of no more than 2mm over a 1-metre span. Moisture levels must be ≤2.0% (or ≤1.8% if underfloor heating is present). All previous soft coverings must be fully removed.
• Adhesive Application & Rolling: Always use a high-quality adhesive specifically formulated for luxury vinyl tiles, applied with the recommended notched trowel. To guarantee a flawless bond and full adhesive transfer, the entire floor must be rolled using a minimum 50kg roller immediately after installation before the adhesive cures.
• Underfloor Heating Compatibility: Our LVT is fully optimized for heating systems, provided the heating pipes or elements are embedded at least 45mm below the screed surface. Turn off the heating system 48 hours before installation and keep it off for 48 hours after. Reintroduce heat gradually over 7 days, ensuring the floor surface temperature never exceeds 27°C.
• Sunlight & Thermal Stability: In areas exposed to extensive glazing, bi-fold doors, or intense direct sunlight, effective shading must be used. The floor surface temperature should never exceed 40°C. For these high-risk areas, a heavy-duty two-component PU adhesive is highly recommended.

🧼 Care & Care & Maintenance

Fortis Floors™ LVT is designed for effortless, low-maintenance living. Following a few simple care practices will keep your floors looking pristine for years to come:

• Post-Installation Care: Avoid walking on your newly laid floor for at least 24 hours to let the adhesive cure completely. Do not wet-clean or mop the surface for the first 7 days.
• Everyday Cleaning: Easily maintain the finish using a vacuum, soft-bristled broom, or a well-wrung damp cloth. Avoid harsh abrasive chemicals, bleach, or leaving standing pools of water on the surface.
• Surface Protection: Always fit soft felt protective pads to furniture legs and use soft castors on office chairs. Avoid dragging heavy furniture or appliances across the tiles. Please refrain from using rubber-backed mats, rubber furniture feet, or rubber wheels, as they can cause permanent discolouration.
